From The Reporter's Notebook

Donald Trump's campaign canceled a Monday press conference with black evangelical pastors after many of those planning on attending the event said they would not endorse the Republican candidate. According to reporter Caitlin MacNeal, ahead of the event Trump attempted to shrug off the pastor's public comments about him and suggested that BLM members pressured the religious leaders not to support Trump.

Agree or Disagree?

"For now it simply seems worth saying what appears transparently obvious, if downplayed in the local press, which is that this was the latest instance of anti-abortion rights terrorism in the country and appears directly linked to the incitement stemming from false claims about Planned Parenthood being involved in the trafficking of body parts from aborted fetuses."

BUZZING: Today in the Hive

From a TPM Prime member: "For me, the defining feature of Fascism is it's economic policy/construct, which is mainly the "privatization" (of profits) of government. The "public" is eliminated or subjugated: taxes (not optional) must be paid, unlike free market consumer spending and labor rights are broken to benefit private corporate interests. The notion of the private individual being subjugated to the "corporate" (the whole, larger body, not the business/legal notion of corporate) was pervasive. While it is true that many Fascist governments relied upon hyper-nationalism and xenophobia (which are what Trump deals in) in order to achieve and maintain power - to the point that these were predominant features - these are not definitive because many other forms of government have pursued them in much the same way (think of pogroms in support of the Russian Absolutist Monarchy)."

Related: Jim Gilmore said he doesn't agree with Trump's "fascist talk."
